- Annual tax is divided across 26 pay periods.
- This estimate uses tax year 2026.
- Federal filing status: Single.

How Oklahoma taxes a paycheck
Oklahoma taxes wages in brackets, 2.5% to 4.5% for a single filer. Each rate applies only to the part of taxable income inside its bracket.
A single filer subtracts a $6,350 standard deduction before the state rate applies.
The personal exemption for a single filer is $1,000.
| Taxable income (single) | Rate | Taxable income (joint) |
|---|---|---|
| Up to $3,750 | 0% | Up to $7,500 |
| $3,750 to $4,900 | 2.5% | $7,500 to $9,800 |
| $4,900 to $7,200 | 3.5% | $9,800 to $14,400 |
| Over $7,200 | 4.5% | Over $14,400 |
Federal income tax uses the IRS 2026 brackets and standard deduction. Social Security is 6.2% of pay up to $184,500 a year and Medicare is 1.45%, plus 0.9% on wages over $200,000.

Oklahoma paycheck questions
How much is taken out of a paycheck in Oklahoma?
On the Oklahoma median wage of $45,600 (BLS, May 2025), paid every two weeks, about $318.73 of a $1,753.85 paycheck goes to tax: $126.62 federal income tax, $134.17 Social Security and Medicare, and $57.94 Oklahoma income tax. That leaves $1,435.12.
This assumes a single filer with the standard deduction and no pre-tax deductions such as 401(k) or health premiums, which would lower both the tax and the check.
Does Oklahoma have a state income tax?
Yes. Oklahoma taxes wages in brackets, 2.5% to 4.5% for a single filer. Each rate applies only to the part of taxable income inside its bracket. The rules come from Oklahoma Tax Commission.
What is the Oklahoma income tax rate for 2026?
For a single filer the rates run 2.5% to 4.5%. The bracket table on this page shows where each rate starts.
How much is $1,000 a week after taxes in Oklahoma?
About $810.92 a week, or $42,168 a year, for a single filer with the standard deduction in 2026. Federal income tax takes about $78.08 a week and Social Security and Medicare $76.50; Oklahoma income tax about $34.51.
Why is my real paycheck different from this estimate?
Employers withhold with the IRS percentage method and your W-4, not with an annual estimate split into pay periods. Pre-tax deductions such as a 401(k), health insurance or an HSA lower your taxable pay, and bonuses are often withheld at a flat supplemental rate. Over a full year the two should come close; a single check can differ.
